What to Expect at Eva Joyce Bridal
If you’re anything like me, stepping into a brand-new experience can come with equal parts excitement and anxiety — especially when it’s something as meaningful as choosing your wedding dress. That’s exactly why I’ve written this. Here, I’ll walk you through every step of a bridal appointment at Eva Joyce Bridal, so you know exactly what to expect before you arrive. My hope is that by lifting the curtain, we can quiet the nerves, ease the pressure, and leave plenty of space for what really matters: enjoying the moment and falling in love with the process….and the dress.
As soon as you walk through the door you and your guests will be greeted by a member of our staff. Welcoming you in to the space. You have exclusive use of the entire studio for the entirety of your appointment. Making it an intimate and personalised experience for all.
Fizz First, Dresses Second
As you and your party get settled into the space, you’ll be offered a selection of complimentary refreshments to enjoy. From our signature mocktails to a choice of comforting hot drinks, everything is provided for you and your guests — completely free. It’s our way of helping you relax, feel at home, and ease into the experience before the dress magic begins
Tell Us Everything
This is where the magic really begins. During our initial chat, we’ll talk through everything from your venue and wedding vibe to colours, inspirations, and any ideas you might already have — but don’t worry if you’re not sure yet. There are no right or wrong answers here. While our stylists are trained to know what flatters every body type, that’s never how we find the dress. What truly matters is getting to know you — your personality, your energy, what makes your eyes light up and your guests well up. This isn’t about playing dress up; it’s about finding a gown that feels like an extension of you and tells your story beautifully.
Time to shop
Once we’ve chatted through your ideas and learned a little more about your big day, we’ll invite you to explore our collection of dresses. To begin, we’ll ask you to choose three gowns as a starting point to try on. This isn’t a limitation — just a gentle guideline to help keep things relaxed and not overwhelming, and simply because the changing room comfortably fits three dresses at a time. We call this phase one.
getting into the dress
We know getting changed in front of someone you just met sounds scary but we have developed a technique to getting into and out of dresses so that at no point should you feel uncomfortable or exposed. We have luxury bamboo robes for your use through out the appointment. We ask our brides to step into each dress with the robe still on. The stylist will then pull the dress up ensuring you are fully covered before asking you to slip out of the rob so that we can fasten the dress. At no point will you be uncovered.
Of course, some brides are perfectly happy hopping in and out of dresses in their underwear — and that’s absolutely fine too. This experience is all about your comfort, and we’ll always follow your lead.
The reveal
Our boutique and changing suites are intentionally designed to create a truly special moment for every dress reveal. This means we can dramatically unveil each gown to your entourage without you needing to move an inch. You’ll get to soak in those immediate reactions — the gasps, the smiles, the happy tears — while the anticipation builds as they wait to see you. It’s one of our favourite parts of every appointment and a moment that makes the experience feel even more magical.
Phase one
In the first phase of your appointment, you’ll try on the three gowns chosen by you and your guests. With each dress, your stylist will ask thoughtful questions and take note of both your reactions and your entourage’s feelings. At this stage, we always encourage you to focus on small decisions — which neckline you’re drawn to, whether you prefer classic ivory or a hint of colour, more sparkle or beautifully simple fabrics. These details are far easier to tune into than putting pressure on yourself to find the one straight away. That said, it’s worth knowing that in 2025, 7 out of 10 brides said yes to the very first dress they tried on — sometimes the magic really does happen sooner than you expect.
Based on the discoveries made during phase one your stylist will then start to use their knowledge of our designs and expertise to make some suggestions for you to try. This is where we move into Phase Two.
Phase two
Phase two is where everything really starts to fall into place. This is when your stylist may begin to suggest alternative options that feel a little unexpected — but trust us, it’s all part of the Eva Joyce process. The goal here isn’t to confuse you, but to help you find clarity, certainty, and confidence in your choices.
As a designer, this is my favourite phase. It’s the moment brides begin to truly trust that we know what we’re doing — and that they’re very much on their way to finding their dream dress. We’ll explore subtle customisations to ensure the gown feels perfectly you, and we’ll start introducing accessories so you can see the complete look come to life. By the end of this phase, we’ll usually have narrowed things down to two dresses… or even the one.
You said yes!!!!
Once you’ve said YES, it’s time to celebrate — and then take care of a few important details. We’ll start the paperwork, finalising any customisations, taking the necessary measurements, and carefully going over all the finer points so we’re completely ready to begin making your dress. I’ll be honest, this part can feel like a bit of a blur — it’s what I lovingly call the boring bits. After the excitement of dressing up for the past hour and a half, it’s a shift in energy, but it’s just as important. This is where we solidify your decision and make absolutely sure everything is spot on. At this stage, your 60% deposit is required and all relevant documents will be signed so your gown can be ordered. Then it’s back to the fun — we move into your Say YES moment, celebrating with you and your guests and capturing those memories for you to treasure forever.
