Bridal Accessories
With our amazing range of bridal accessories now available to purchase online we have been bombarded with questions about styling, veil lengths, colours… the list goes on. So instead of having a million FAQ’s we thought it would be better to explain in a blog.
Lets first have a look into veil lengths. This may look super complicated but it really isn’t. As with all accessories you should always style them around your bridal style and this would include your dress. There are no rules that say if your dress has a chapel train that you can’t have a cathedral veil. In fact one of our signature combinations is the CLEO dress with EJAV002 in the cathedral length.
As you can see it is a great way to take an elegant minimalist dress and elevate it to the next level, even if it is just for your ceremony and photographs.
In terms of veil lengths the 3 best selling lengths are: Fingertip, Floor & Cathedral. You need to also consider what style you would like to have your hair. The veil will need something to be anchored into. If you are planning on having your hair down we recommend either a half-up, half-down or just a small section be pinned up so that the veil can be fixed in place.
Cathedral length veils with a heavy lace edge are better suited to a longer train on your dress. This means they will glide along with your train and not drag along the floor causing pulling from your head. Examples of full lace hem veils are EJAV011 or EJAV021.
Veil Colours
Veil colours are important to consider especially if placing an online order. Keep in mind especially if you are looking at white veils that in the UK bridal stores often do not stock any white gowns! This is often a surprise to most brides but the chances are the dresses you think are “white” are actually ivory. Here are our tips for which veil colours go with which dress colours. Please note colours vary depending on designer so we are basing this off our designs.
-
Diamond White
This is a tone just in between ivory and white. The reason we use this sometimes is that it can brighten up those gowns with bright ivory appliques. We would style this colour with an ivory dress such as Charlotte because of the lace appliques. So any ivory/white gown with scattered lace appliques would look lovely.
-
Ivory Veil
Ivory veils we would say are always the safe bet. Ivory tends to go with all colours. The only exception would be if you have a white or variation of white gown. It is at this point when ivory veils can have the illusion of looking slightly grubby.
-
Blush Veil
Our blush veils are very delicate in colour and compliment the following colour wedding gowns: blush, nude & mocha.
-
Champagne Veil
Champagne is a difficult tone to get right and we have to say ours is perfect for the following dress colours: Champagne, nude, vintage ivory or the more creamy ivory's you get with some crepes and mikados.
-
Soft Pink Veil
We added to our collection some deeper more pigmented colours and the soft pink is one of our favourites. It is stunning to really warm up a blush bridal look. Or if you are wearing a nude or mocha gown then adding a soft pink veil will really bring out the pinkish hues in these colours. Perfect if your flowers and table decorations are on a blush theme.
-
Nude Veil
Our nude veils when on their own can look very very deep in the pigmentation however they do look stunning on. We would suggest pairing with a nude or champagne gown.
If you have any questions about any of our accessories please do not hesitate to get in touch. We would rather you ask than regret your purchase. No bride should ever feel regret about a wedding purchase only excitement.
